Wow, I haven’t been in this account for A WHILE :\
I’ve done a bit of pony art since I’ve been away, but nothing major; just a couple refs for ponified characters from my book xD
I’ve been really busy, so I don’t know how active I’ll be in this account. If you’d like to contact me for anything, you can find me over at ABOMinableSpectra.

My glasses decided to snap in half a couple of weeks ago, and I can't see anything without them [I'm legally blind], so I had to go and get replacement frames. Unfortunately, the only frames my lenses would fit into were a kid's pair, and they don't want to stay on my face. The woman who set my lenses for me told me I really need to get an eye exam done, since it's been years now and the Transition and Crizal coatings on my lenses have deteriorated. In addition to that, the prescription for at least one of my eyes has changed since I last had an exam.

I'm presently without employment due to medical issues, so I have to rely on my family for help with stuff like this, but I don't want to make my mother [who just lost her overtime] pay $300 for a pair of glasses, so I'm trying to raise the money through commissions. I will only be taking Paypal right now, as I need the cash, obviously.

I've created a few feral and anthro characters lately that I'm particularly fond of, and I'd love to get tons of art of them, but I don't quite know where to look x3

If you know of anyone [or if you do any yourself], give me a shout. I'm particularly interested in finding people who can do unusual foxes, big cats and rabbits. By unusual, I mean unnatural [since some artists will only do natural characters] and/or a tad complex, like Vocalise here: abominablespectra.deviantart.c… [one of my fursona's forms <3]

In terms of pricing, something like $10 or under, or 250 points or under. I'm really cheap with points right now xD

I need $18 for a new collar, but I'm pretty strapped for cash with Christmas coming up. Would anyone like a $6 commission [or 2, or 3 xD] of their pony character(s)? I'll do up to 2 characters per picture, fully shaded, with any sort of background you like [I can do scenery like in the pictures in my gallery, or abstract stuff].

I could also do background-less ponies for a bit less - $3 for one, $5 for two.

Awe'hellea isn't technically a pony OC, but I'll probably draw her in pony form A LOT, so it would be nice to have a mate for her that is at least part pony. This is where the brony community comes in!

GOAL

Your goal here is to, obviously, design a mate for Awe'hellea! There are various ways you can approach this, and tons of opportunities for creativity .

Things I'm looking for in a design:

Possibly '80s-themed: Awe'hellea's storyline begins in the '80s, and is rather '80s-centric, so something inspired by the '80s would be awesome!
Semi-complex design: I rather dislike simple designs xD – look through gallery to see how complex I'm talking about – nothing more complex than that would be perfect x3
Male or female: - whichever you feel like designing x3
Pony hybrid of some sort, or a monster: could be anything – it doesn't have to have much in common with Awe'hellea. It just needs to be interesting and awesome
No pony maker entries; must be your own work/ideas: needs no explanation. C'mon, people – think outside the box! Go crazy!
I like designs that are thought-out: most of my designs take days at least to figure out – I rarely do any off the top of my head – so I like things that have a complexity factor to them, without being insanely time-consuming to draw lol
COLORS, BABY 8D: my monsters are usually fairly natural in color but since this is the '80s I wanna see some splashes of color!
Possible inspiration right here: I like the idea of his name maybe being 'Painkiller', or some such thing lol. This idea stems from an old accessory design I did mid-last year for a character: a collar with a pendant made to look like a pill with the 'x_x' face on it xD

Since the '80s were partly defined by the music of the decade, and music is a huge part of my life, Awe'hellea has a great love for music. Here are some of my fave '80s songs to get you in the mood for an '80s design xD: "Lawyers in Love" Jackson Browne, "Cum on Feel the Noize" Quiet Riot, "Who Can It Be Now?" Men At Work, "Venus" Bananarama [lol], ""Owner of a Lonely Heart" Yes, and pretty much any other music from then xD
On a side note, while the album is from 1979, Pink Floyd's "The Wall" is my favorite album ever and one of my favorite films [feel free to use that for inspiration –my favorite songs from it are "In the Flesh?", "Comfortably Numb", "Young Lust", "One of My Turns", "Bring the Boys Back Home", and "The Trial" – I think "The Trial" is my favorite PF song, honestly lol

RULES
You can enter as many times as you want, so feel free to explore different design possibilities, and species combos/etc. Only one entry can win, but more entries = more winning possibilities!
Design must be your own work - no designs made by other people [whether you own them or not], no previously made designs, no pony maker designs, and no re-colors. If I suspect any form of art theft or either of the aforementioned, I will not accept your entry. On this same note, you can use bases if you like, but again – no re-colors. And if you use a base, you must link to the original.
You can donate prizes and enter if you like :3
Entries can be digital or traditional works of any kind. I don't value one over the other, as I started as a strictly traditional artist, and work predominantly digitally now namely because it's faster and doesn't cost me anything – because my drawing inks are not cheap xD – and, as you might be able to tell, my digital style [especially background-wise] draws heavily from traditional painting styles.
Entries must be neat and clean. No five-second drawings [you know the type lol]. And no five-second designs xD.
For digital entries, program doesn't matter. Some people have something against MS Paint, and others think Photoshop is the only good program, but I'm not like that. As long as you put effort into your entry, and I can tell you tried to make it the best it could be, you can use whatever you want.
When you've finished your entry, please either post the link here, on my userpage, or send it to me in a note. I generally don't have much time to navigate the people's galleries looking for things, especially when I get out of the house late on Saturdays.  
Gore is allowed – after all, we are talking about a mate for a horror character here. And I'm not squeamish when it comes to fictional gore lol. I just request that, if it involves anything rather graphic [such as evisceration, vivid bodily injury – like bones jutting out, and such stuff that makes people cringe – and gallons of blood],please put the Mature filter on it. A lot of people can't handle gore, and I'd like to respect anyone who might not want to see that when they're browsing through entries.    

DEADLINE
There is no deadline currently, because I'm not 100% sure when I actually want to end it xD. So, I've decided that it will remain open-ended for the time being.

JUDGING
Judging will be conducted mainly by myself, and probably some members of my family. I might also take on a guest judge or two, if anyone is interested. We'll be judging on the following criteria:
Effort – how hard does it look like you worked on it?
Creativity – how did you interpret the design? Is it unique?
Quality – is it sloppy or rushed? Or did you keep it neat and clean? [Note: Quality doesn't take drawing ability in account – it's only focus is how clean, neat and clear you make the drawing x3]
Overall Appeal – how well is the design executed? Did they use the themes and other stuff to supplement their creativity? Does it stand out against the rest?
